Uniontown woman charged with causing injuries in burglary

A Uniontown woman is accused of breaking into a home in the city and assaulting people inside. Destinie Nicklow, 36, is charged with burglary and two counts of simple assault, according to court documents. Residents Seth Goutierrez and Emma Wingrove told Uniontown police Nicklow and another person had kicked down the door of their residence on Main Street shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday and began beating on them, according to the criminal complaint. They then fled to the Uniontown Public Library, where they notified authorities. $1M Powerball ticket sold in Fayette County

A lucky Powerball player in Fayette County is a million dollars richer. The $1 million ticket from Saturday's drawing was sold at the Walmart at 355 Walmart Dr., South Union Township, the Pennsylvania Lottery said in a statement. It matched all five white numbers, but not the red Powerball. The Walmart will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket. Representatives could not be reached for comment Monday afternoon. In Ross Township in Allegheny County, a $200,000 ticket was sold at Thompson Run Market. Project aims to preserve stories of soldiers killed in World War II

A statewide effort to preserve the stories of Pennsylvania service members killed in World War II is seeking volunteer writers, including in Washington, Fayette and Greene counties. The project, led by Kathy Harmon of Franklin County, in south central Pennsylvania through the nonprofit Stories Behind the Stars, aims to document the lives of the estimated 421,000 fallen Americans from World War II, including 31,000 from Pennsylvania.
