Carmichaels man charged with sexual assault of minor

A Carmichaels man is accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in Cumberland Township in February.
Police said Charles Harbarger, 25, had been communicating with the girl over Snapchat for more than two weeks before they agreed to meet up on Feb. 28 at an apartment where several of her friends had also come to hang out.
After her friends left and the renter of the apartment was in the next room, Harbarger sexually assaulted the girl in the living room, according to a criminal complaint filed Tuesday. She then fell asleep on a bed in the living room after her friends returned, police said.
The next morning, the complaint said, the girl contacted her mother, who picked her up at the apartment and took her to UPMC – Greene to be examined for sexual assault. The girl also complained of inner thigh pain after the incident, court paperwork indicated.
Harbarger is charged with statuatory sexual assault of a minor by someone 8 to 11 years older, and unlawful contact with a minor, as well as misdemeanor counts of indecent assault.
