Can I Make Changes To My Web Site Myself?

Of course you can! PVI Productions recommends Microsoft FrontPage for editing most Web sites, both for its WYSIWYG editor and its ease in publishing sites.

Recommended Procedure

  1. Open site in FrontPage. You will need your administrative username and password. (Password help)
  2. Publish your current site to your local computer. Making changes to your live site is not a good idea. Your responses will be slower, and could cause unpredictable issues for current visitors to your site.
  3. Close live site and open your local copy. Don't forget this step.
  4. Make changes to the site on your local computer. This will prevent visitors from seeing partial edits, incomplete information, typos or other issues during the editing process. It also provides you with a backup copy of your site for added security.
  5. Publish your local copy to the live site. When changes are complete, use FP to publish changes to your live site.
  6. Notify PVI that your site has changed. Especially if you are a PVI Web Site Maintenance client, we will need to update our backup copy on our production server.
