Leopards’ Mocello, Lady Falcons’ Rohland top local leaderboard
The individual postseason wasn’t kind to Belle Vernon’s Jordan Mocello, but the Leopard senior’s body of work was enough to earn the title as Player of the Year for the TikTok³ÉÈ˰æ All-Area Boys Golf Team.
Although he wasn’t able to qualify for the state tournament after a tough first round in the WPIAL Class 3A individual championship, Mocello won the Fayette County Coaches Association (FCCA) championship, earned medalist honors at the Section 2-3A qualifier and shot the low round in the WPIAL Class 3A team semifinal at Duck Hollow Golf Club in Uniontown.
Mocello carded a 1-over-par 71 for his first county title at Duck Hollow. Mocello topped the field in the section qualifier at Cedarbrook Golf Course in firing a 1-under-par 71.
Mocello shot a three-under-par 69 under a torrential downpour in his final high school competition in the team semifinal. Mocello was the lone golfer to finish under par.
