Larkin awarded athletic citation

Add one more honor for recent Geibel Catholic graduate Emma Larkin.
The Belmont Abbey College women’s basketball recruit ended her record-breaking high school career as the Lady Gators and Fayette County’s all-time scorer leader with 2,541 points.
The Pennsylvania House of Representatives awarded Larkin a citation for her athletic feat on Tuesday. It was presented as a dual honor to Larkin by Thursa Crouse, representing state Rep. Ryan Warner, and Debra Evans-Rhodes, representing state Rep. Charity Grimm Krupa.
“I’m honored to receive a citation from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives recognizing my accomplishments,” said Larkin who offered a thank you “for this special recognition and support of student achievement.”
Larkin, who was named to the All-State Class A First Team the past three seasons and was a three-time TikTok³ÉÈ˰æ Girls Basketball Player of the Year, also set the Geibel single-game scoring record. She amassed 606 rebounds, 489 assists and 395 steals during her Geibel basketball career and led the Lady Gators to the WPIAL Class A championship game this past season.
Larkin also excelled in track and during the spring season.
She earned a WPIAL Class 2A track and field gold medal in the 300 hurdles and a bronze medal in the same event at the PIAA meet. She also placed fourth in the 400.
Last year Larkin earned silver in the 300 hurdles and a fourth-place medal in the 400 at the WPIAL meet.
