Local roundup: Lady Falcons clinch track playoff spot

Aijanae Foster won three individual events in helping Brownsville defeat host Charleroi, 120-27, and West Greene, 95-25, in Section 6-2A girls track and field action Tuesday as the Lady Falcons clinched a spot in the WPIAL team playoffs.
The Lady Falcons were still in the running for a share of the section title but needed Waynesburg Central to defeat California Wednesday for that to happen.
Foster placed first in the 100 high hurdles (16:58), 300 hurdles (58.33) and high jump (4-10) and also combined with Amya Wilson, Ta’Veonna Harris and Jersey Feick-White wo tin the 400 relay (54.49).
Double winners in individual events for the Lady Falcons (6-1) were Feick-White in the 100 (13.75) and 200 (29.18), Mataia Geary in the 1,600 (7:34.58) and 3,200 (18:06), Caitlin Miske in the long jump (12-10.5) and triple jump (27-3) and Alexa Lewandowsky in the shot put (27-9) and discus (94-7).
Brownsville’s Ava Rohland won the javelin (72-0). The Lady Falcons also were victorious in the 3,200 relay with Geary, Emily Crawford, Miske and Memphis Irvin (14:07.91) and the 1,600 relay with Amizhe Moore, Irvin, Harris and Feick-White (5:40.78).
West Greene’s Eryka Hackney was first in the 400 (1:09.13) and Bethany Courtwright won the 800 (3:15.08).
Boys track and field
Brownsville 74, Charleroi 62; Brownsville 101, West Greene 17 – The Falcons earned a playoff spot out of Section 6-2A by sweeping a triangular meet over the Cougars and Pioneers.
Camden Wellington had a hand in three first-place finishes for Brownsville (5-2). Wellington won the 400 (57.81) and 200 (24.54) and combined with Cameron Phillips, Silas Patterson and Max Diudonne to place first in the 400 relay (48.58).
Other individual double winners for the Falcons were Owen Shimshock in the 1,600 (6:29.63) and 3,200 (13:28.13) and Eli Booker in the discus (114-11) and javelin (80-4). Brownsville’s Michael Ulery was first in the shot put (32-10).
The Falcons also won the 1,600 relay with Neovae Jordan, Phillips, Patterson and Nico Angelo (4:32.86).
Charleroi’s Braedin Lunger was first in the 110 high hurdles (17.96), 300 hurdles (44.09) and long jump (20-9). The Cougars’ Connor Luckout won the high jump (6-0) and Noah Pletcher was victorious in the triple jump (38-1)
Baseball
California 14, Beth-Center 4 – Ricky Lawson was 4 for 4 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs and the Trojans exploded for 10 runs in the fifth inning to rally past the visiting Bulldogs in a six-inning Section 1-2A game.
Beth-Center (1-3, 2-3) scored all their runs in the third inning but California (2-0, 3-3) stormed back with a run in the bottom of the inning and two more in the fourth before their big fifth inning.
Chase Cicchitto doubled and singled and Kaden Weston contributed two hits and an RBI for the Trojans who also got a pair of RBIs from Caden Monticelli.
Jackson Nopwaskey tripled and singled and Enzo Brown doubled for the Bulldogs.
