Copperheads return home with 3-1 win

Carmichaels scored the game-deciding run in the top of the third inning for a 3-1 road victory Wednesday night in a Fayette County Baseball League game at Mill Run.
Jimmy Sadler started the game-winning rally with a walk off losing pitcher Zack Knabenshue. Sadler advanced to second on a passed ball, and scored on an error.
Noah Burke kept the rally alive with a single. Winning pitcher Gianni Cantini and Nick Ricco walked to load the bases. Hunter Mamie’s fly ball scored Cantini.
Mill Run (7-4) answered in the bottom of the inning with Kace Shearer’s solo home run, his second in as many games.
Sadler also scored the first run of the game after he singled to lead off the top of the third inning, stole second, advanced to third on a passed ball and came home on Burke’s single.
Cantini started and pitched six innings, allowing one earned run on six hits with no walks and 11 strikeouts. Havanis earned the save with a hitless inning of work.
Cade Warrick and Logan Kemp doubled for Mill Run. Teran Kemp and Rich Orndorff singled.
Knabenshue allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits with seven walks and four strikeouts. Logan Kemp finished the game, throwing two scoreless innings with one strikeout.
Fayette American Legion
Charleroi 12, Colonial 3 2 – Tyler O’Neil drove in five runs to lead Charleroi to a Fayette County American Legion Baseball League home victory in five innings.
O’Neil had a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning. Tyler Fisher drove in two with a double. Jake Beveridge had a two-run single. Eddie Frizzel singled home a run, and Andrew Sprinkle added a sacrifice fly.
O’Neil had a two-run single in the bottom of the third inning, and belted a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to invoke the mercy rule.
Frizzel went the distance for the victory. He allowed three hits, walked three and struck out seven.
Beveridge contributed two hits and two RBI to the victory.
Losing pitcher Aidan Johnson drove in a run. Eli Cernuska doubled for the visitors.
Smithfield-Fairchance 5, Uniontown 4 – Matt Malinsky drove in the tying run in the bottom of the seventh inning and Evan McGee plated the game-winning run in Smithfield-Fairchance’s come-from-behind Fayette County American Legion Baseball League victory.
Uniontown scored four runs in the top of the second inning with Clay Dean, Luke Gresh, Nick Fleszar and Ethan Koffler all driving in one run apiece. Dean doubled home the first run of the inning.
Smithfield-Fairchance scored single runs in the bottom of the second, third and fifth innings.
Jason Myers went the distance for the victory, allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits with no walks and three strikeouts. He also had a solid performance at the plate with three hits and two RBI.
Smithfield-Fairchance’s Geno Valenti finished with three hits and scored two runs. McGee finished with two hits and two RBI.
