Zita Marie Poling Shaw, 82, of Perryopolis, passed away peacefully, in her home, Tuesday, May 19, 2026. She was born in Brownsville, a daughter of late John and Pauline Novinsky Poling.
Zita enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping, and playing bingo at the Senior Center. She also liked sitting on the porch coloring and looking at her flowers.
She was also a devout Catholic throughout her life and a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, James H. Shaw, Jr.; daughters, Rita Kapolka (Dennis), Jeanette Adams (Henry); her grandchildren, Robert, Nina, Shannon, Nicholas, Caitlin, Zoe, Abby; sisters, Lillian Parks (Chuck), Paulette Perazzola (Pete), and Theresa Christner (Ray).
Zita’s family will receive friends Friday, May 22, from 3 to 7 p.m. in the BLAIR-LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, Rear 305 Independence Street, Perryopolis, where Prayers of Transfer will be prayed at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 23, followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:30 p.m. in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Perryopolis. Interment will follow in St. Mary of the Assumption Cemetery, Brownsville (Hiller).
