Ronald D. Franks, 88, of Smithfield, passed away Monday, May 11, 2026 in the Frederick Health Hospital, Frederick, Md., with his loving family by his side. He was born October 29, 1937 in Gans, the son of the late Raymond and Bertha Ruble Franks.
He was preceded in death by his loving and faithful wife of 65 years, Kathleen Louise Franks by only a few days, May 9, 2026.
Ronald graduated from Point Marion High School Class of 1955.
He was employed by the NSA for 30 years and retired a program engineer.
Ronald proudly served his country with the U.S. Army and was an active member of Mt. Moriah Church in Smithfield. He especially enjoyed the Operation Christmas Child Project.
Left to cherish Ronald’s memory are his daughter, Leeza Franks and spouse Jennifer Rulli of Frederick; nephew, Dennis (Penny) Clark; cherished great-niece, Ashlie (Colton) Pair and their son, Cooper Pair; cousins, Bill and Karen Wilson, Joanne Walls, and Douglas (Peg) Blaney. He also leaves behind his best friend, his dog, Coco.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME OF SMITHFIELD, 78 Main Street, Smithfield. Visitation will be held Friday, May 22, in the Mt. Moriah Church, 30 Church Street, Smithfield, from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at 12 Noon, with the Rev. Darrell Edgar officiating.
Interment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, where full military rites will be accorded.
