Barbara Ann Rutland, of Uniontown, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.
Barbara was born on June 3, 1941 to Edward and Dorthy Burrell in Connellsville. After graduating from Connellsville High School in 1959, she moved to Brooklyn, N.Y. In 1958 Barbara met Robert Rutland and they wed in 1961.
Barbara was employed as a information operator supervisor for New York Telephone Company. She retired in 1990 and relocated with Bobby to the Uniontown area. They had duel residences for 10 years in Uniontown and Palm Coast, Fla., where they met great friends and travelled worldwide.
Barbara was an active member of her church, Payne AME in Connellsville, where she previously served as the treasurer. Barbara excelled at loving and helping her family and was always supportive no matter what they were dealing with. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Dorthy Burrell; her sister, Beverly Rutland; and aunt, Ruth Webster.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Robert E. Rutland; stepdaughters, Robin Cunningham and Roslyn Simpson; nephews, William and Devin Rutland; aunt, Elsie Haley; goddaughter, Kelly Brown; and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at Payne AME Church, 812 Crawford Avenue, Connellsville, on Saturday, July 25 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., the hour of service. Interment will follow immediately at Greenridge Cemetery.
