Charles N. “Chip” Beatty, 75, of Point Marion, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, April 4, 2026.

Born in Morgantown, W.Va. on January 28, 1951, he was the son of the late Floyd and Betty Jean King Beatty.

A 1969 graduate of Albert Gallatin High School, Chip went on to attend the University of Pittsburgh, where he earned an associate degree in electrical engineering. He dedicated 40 years of hard work to the coal mining industry, beginning his career at Robena Mine and retiring from Cumberland Mine as an Outby Maintenance Foreman.

A man of strong faith, he was a Baptist. Chip was also a past president and recording secretary of F.O.E. #1932 in Point Marion and Valley Lodge #459 Free & Accepted Masons in Masontown.

Proud of his Irish heritage, “Chipper” became a full-blown leprechaun every year on March 17th, visiting family and friends while spreading his Irish cheer.

He loved cooking for his family, experimenting with new recipes he discovered on social media, and collecting, and proudly showing off, his extensive knife collection. He also enjoyed spending time at their camp in Bowden, W.Va.

Chip is survived by his loving wife of nearly 53 years, Joann Linkovitch Beatty; his two daughters, Rachelle Beatty and Barbara Barone (Raymond), both of Point Marion; and his three cherished grandchildren: Emilee Beatty, James Belan and Lucas Job; two brothers, William “Bill” Beatty (Donna) of Point Marion and John Wilson (Peggy) of Plano, Texas. He is also survived by his stepmother, Doris Jean Beatty of Point Marion; along with several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Bonnie Kay Beatty Kiger.

Family and friends will be received at the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME in Point Marion from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 9, and from 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of service, Friday with Pastor Kathy Griffith officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park in Point Marion.
