Pauline Francis Childs

Uniontown
It is with great love and deep sorrow that the family of Pauline Francis Childs announce her peaceful passing Monday, May 5, 2025, at the age of 79. Born to Arthur and Elvira Jordan Hutchinson, Pauline was a proud and spirited woman who lived her life with resilience, laughter, and heart.
She was the devoted wife of the late Jesse “Abe” Childs, with whom she shared 41 wonderful years of marriage. Together they built a life rooted in love, family, and simple joys.
Pauline had a spark about her – a quick wit, a warm laugh, and a love for life’s little pleasures. She especially enjoyed scratch tickets and bingo, where the thrill of a win was only matched by the fun of the game. Whether surrounded by friends at a bingo table or scratching off a new ticket with anticipation, Pauline found joy in the simple, hopeful moments of everyday life.
She was a devoted mother to five children, Bonnie Jo Childs, Jesse Childs (Lisa), Arthur Childs (Eva), Candy Koffler (Paul), and John Childs (Lisa). Her pride in her family was evident to all who knew her. Pauline was the cherished grandmother of Bethany Davis (Gage), Brittany Marling (Sean), Kenneth Morris, Laci Morris, Zephan Morris, Arthur Childs Jr. (Anthony), Omie Broadwater (Daphne), Kaden Childs, Paul Koffler III (Bethann), John Childs Jr., Dylan Childs, and Emma Childs. She was also a proud great- grandmother to Nathan Marling, Gabriel Marling, Maddison Marling, Arabella Marling, Ariana Marling, Bella Porterfield, Abi Coleman, Hannah Childs, Lucille Broadwater, Cheyenne Koffler, Mya Koffler, and Paul Koffler IV.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Elvira; her beloved husband, Jesse “Abe”; and her brothers, George, Albert, and Robert Hutchinson; and daughter-in-law, Carol Childs.
She is also survived by her loving brother, Donnie Hutchinson; cousin, Norma Hlatky; and best friend, Peggy Snyder.
Pauline’s life was full of laughter, love, and unforgettable moments. She was a strong woman, a source of comfort, and the heart of her family. She will be missed more than words can express.
Friends and family will be received in the DeGUSIPE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 65 N. Gallatin Avenue, Uniontown, Stacey A. Dolfi, funeral director, where a celebration of Pauline’s life will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 9, and from 9 until the time of a service at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 10. Interment will follow in Mt. Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor her in a way she would’ve loved – maybe by buying a scratch ticket and thinking of her, with a smile and a little hope in your heart.
