August W. Corfont, Jr., 81, of Brownsville, passed away peacefully, after a brief illness, Friday, June 13, 2025, with his loving family by his side.

“Auggie” was born February 22, 1944, in Brownsville, and graduated from the John A. Brashear Senior High School in 1962.

He served honorably in the U.S. Army, and graduated from Westmoreland County Community College and California University of Pennsylvania.

Auggie was an avid reader, photographer, writer and self-taught musician, who played with the band Church Street for four years.

Auggie was predeceased by his parents, August Corfont, Sr. and Verona Scott Corfont; his sister and brother-in- law, Mary Kathryn Corfont and Carmen DellaPenna; his aunts and uncles John and Thelma Honeycheck, John and Eleanor Sirilla, Irma Reese Scott Klemovitch, and Steven and Susan Scott; and cousin, Johnny Honeycheck.

Uncle Auggie is survived by his nieces and nephews, Carla, Carl (Amy), Nettie, and Vince (Pam) DellaPenna; and his sister-in-law, Jeanne DellaPenna Bozek and her children, Lisa (Dave) Carney, Robin (Kris) Cole, and Susan (Shawn) Kennedy.

Also left to cherish his memory are Katie, Carl, Jr. (Hannah), Christina (Andrew, Sofia, Selia) Cotton, Anthony, Caleb DellaPenna, Alice Lacey, and Paul Mark Chamberlain.

Private services are under the care of the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, Brownsville.

Auggie’s message to his close friends was: “I was the best white athlete in Brownsville.”
