Point Marion

Gregg Garland, 70, of Point Marion, Pa., died unexpectedly Thursday, May 29, 2025, at his home.

Born in Morgantown on March 14, 1955, he was a son of the late Curtis H. and Mary Girimont Garland.

A 1973 graduate of Morgantown High School, Gregg worked for more than 40 years at Kroger in Morgantown, retiring as grocery manager.

When his sons were young, he was very involved with sports activities in the Point Marion area, coaching T-Ball, serving on the Point Marion Park Commission, organizing the youth soccer league, and coaching soccer at the Albert Gallatin High School. After retirement, he enjoyed helping in the community with maintenance at the local veteran’s memorial and public library.

Surviving is his wife, Roxane Novacich Garland; two sons, Bryant Garland and wife Stephanie of Newport News, Va., and Derek Garland of Morgantown; one beloved little granddaughter, Emma Rose Garland; a sister, Sue Black and husband Tom of San Dimas Calif., and their family.

Friends will be received Wednesday, 3 to 7 p.m. in the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be offered in Gregg’s name to the American Institute for Cancer Research or the American Heart Association.
