Carl Thomas, 73, of Uniontown, formerly of Brownsville, went to be with his Heavenly Father Tuesday, December 9, 2025. He was born September 2, 1952, in Brownsville, the beloved son of the late Rev. William H. Thomas and Cornelia Brown Thomas.

After graduating from Brownsville Area High School, Class of 1972, Carl enlisted in the U.S. Army August 7, 1972, and served honorably until his discharge from the U.S. Army Reserve August 6, 1978, attaining the rank of Specialist Four (SP4). During his military service, Carl worked as a military policeman and earned several commendations including the National Defense Service Medal, Rifle Marksman, and Pistol Marksman.

Following his military service, Carl was employed by Volkswagen before dedicating his career to serving the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a corrections officer, beginning March of 1986 and retiring with the rank of CO3 in June of 2007 after 21 years of service and earning numerous certificates and commendations throughout his career.

Carl was the life of the party. Whether hosting family gatherings at the grill or enjoying a night out with friends, he had an infectious laugh and a the ability to bring joy to everyone around him.

One of Carl’s most meaningful accomplishments came when he accepted the Lord into his heart and was baptized July 2, 2025, at Laurel Ridge Nursing Center.

In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his siblings, William H. Thomas Jr., Clarence Thomas, Bowman Thomas, Harold Thomas, Edward Thomas, and Charlotte M. Brewer.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Alexis De Los Santo (Dario); his grandchildren, LillyAnne, Pharaoh, Elias; his devoted partner, wife and friend of 35 years, Janet Thomas; siblings, Shirley Wall, James Thomas (Marlella), and Kenneth Thomas (Lisa); and nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the time of a funeral service at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 20. Interment immediately following at the Thomas Cemetery in Hopwood.
