Josephine Rose Sabatula Carolla

Josephine Rose Sabatula Carolla, 92, of Uniontown, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2025, with her loving family by her side.
She was born July 9, 1933, in Bitner, a daughter of the late Andrew and Emilie Kufta Sabatula.
Josephine was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 66 years, Anthony “Tony” Carolla; and her twin brothers Andy and Joe Sabatula.
She is survived by her four children, Kathy Bota (Jody), James Carolla (Bonnie), Anita Carolla, and Anthony “Acee” Carolla (Pam); eight grandchildren, Ryan Carolla (Kristen), Stacie Tobak (Stephen), Aaron Carolla (Rachel), Lucas Bota, Emily Bota (Dom), Alex Bota (Nicole), Danielle Huhn (Ryan), Michelle Mouser (Taylor); nine great- grandchildren, Tyler, Jordin and Connor Carolla, Niko and Giovanni Bota, Danny and Joey Tobak, Anthony Huhn, Jay and Indy Mouser, and Arthur and Oliver Carolla; special niece, Angela Carolla and daughters; brother, Larry Sabatula (Beverly); sister, Teresa Slampak; along with numerous nieces, nephews and loyal friends.
She was a member of Saint Therese de Lisieux R.C. Church, St. Therese Altar Society, St. Joseph Christian Mothers, Secular Francican, and Women’s Auxiliary Catholic War Veterans.
She was a caretaker for St. Anthony’s Friary, volunteered at St. Vincent De Paul, and was a member of Manoretts Bowling League well into her 80’s.
Her greatest joy was Sunday dinner with her family. She was famous for her Jojo buns and loved cooking for friends and family.
She was an avid bird watcher, loved to crochet and build jigsaw puzzles. She also loved to watch her alphabet TV EWTN, PTL, QVC, HSN, and SNP, where she would cheer on her Pirates, Pens and Steelers.
Visitation will be held in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, HOPWOOD, from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, August 22. Additional visitation will be held Saturday, August 23 from 9 until prayers of transfer at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in Saint Therese de Lisieux R.C. Church, 61 Mill Street. Interment will follow in Mount Saint Macrina Cemetery.
The family would like to send a special thank you to WVU Hospice Bethany, Amy, Laura, Brandi and Carl for taking excellent care of their mother. The family would like to extend a thank you to Debbie, Judy, Barb, and Lori for their great care.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to a charity of one’s choice or Fayette Friends of Animals, in Josephine’s honor.
