Greene County man sentenced on child porn charges
A Greene County man was sentenced to 5 to 10 years in prison on child pornography charges Wednesday.
Jacob Rex, 20, of Crucible, will serve consecutive sentences for possessing child sexual abuse material and distributing film of child sex acts. They are being served concurrently with a sentence on separate charges for distribution, corruption of a minor and criminal use of a telecommunications facility.
Rex must also register as a Type II offender under Megan’s Law.
In December, TikTok alerted a national tip line to four videos Rex had uploaded on the app, including one of a girl appearing to be between 5 and 7, according to court documents.
Investigators later traced the IP address on the account to Rex’s home in Crucible, where they found the material within an app on his phone.
At Wednesday’s hearing, in Greene County Court of Common Pleas, Judge Jeffry Grimes called the charges “extremely disturbing” and told Rex he hoped he would relocate.
“You don’t want to come back before me on anything that relates to similar crimes,” Grimes said.
Rex, who had been lodged in the Greene County jail since Jan. 23, will receive credit for time served.
