Law enforcement seizes products from Canonsburg vape shop

Canonsburg police raided a local vape shop Thursday after certain products tested positive THC and other illegal substances, said Chief Alex Coghill.
The investigation into Canonsburg Vapors began several months ago after reports from concerned parents about products their children had purchased, Coghill said. THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is a compound within marijuana.
According to Coghill, undercover officers purchased products from the business, located at 165 E. Pike St., and had them tested.
“They were extremely more potent than what was advertised,” Coghill said.
District Judge Kelly Stewart signed a search warrant filed by an agent with the attorney general’s office Wednesday. According to the warrant, the investigation began in October 2024 following reports the business was selling marijuana to juveniles.
The warrant states that investigators purchased pre-rolled marijuana “blunts” and gummies labeled “magic mushrooms” from Canonsburg Vapors.
According to court records, the gummies tested positive for chemicals typically found in psychedelic mushrooms.
Criminal charges have not been filed against anyone in connection to the investigation.
Canonsburg Vapors remained open Friday. An employee took a reporter’s phone number to provide to management. A man calling from a New York City area code called claiming to be a co-owner in the business. However, the man declined to provide his name or a comment without first speaking to an attorney.
According to Coghill, the items seized from Canonsburg Vapors will be sent to the state police crime lab in Greensburg.
Canonsburg police were assisted in the investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the state attorney general’s office, and the Washington County Drug Task Force.
