Roscoe firefighters were called to 54 Rebecca St. shortly after 2 p.m. and began battling the blaze.

While inside the house, firefighters located a dog and brought the animal outside in an attempt to revive it, although their efforts were unsuccessful and it died, the department said. No injuries to firefighters or the home’s residents were reported.

The interior was heavily damaged from the fire, the cause of which was not immediately released.
