State police contend a Perryopolis man abused his girlfriend’s 7-month-old and 4-year-old daughters, fracturing bones.

Dylan Howell, 21, was charged on Wednesday with aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children, reckless endangerment and simple assault.

According to court paperwork, the grandmother of the children, Sabrena Ramey, contacted police on Oct. 24 after she noticed both of her granddaughters had facial bruises. Police talked to the girls’ mother, Sarah Ramey, who reportedly indicated the bruises on her daughters were self-inflicted.

She also told police that the 4-year-old threw herself on the floor and hit her face on a door, according to the complaint.

Both children were taken to WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital before being transported to WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital in Morgantown, W. Va., for further evaluation. A forensic nurse coordinator told police that the 7-month-old girl had a clavicle fracture and a lower extremity fracture that was “deemed concerning,” and the 4-year old had a fracture to her hand and fingers.

Police said Sabrena Ramey provided a statement on Nov. 6 in which she said the 4-year-old told her that “Day Day” – which is how she pronounces Dylan – had hit her in the face.

According to court paperwork, medical records revealed the bruising to both girls was “highly suggestive of inflicted injury not consistent with a simple fall,” and gave a diagnosis of “non-accidental traumatic injury.”

A warrant has been issued for Howell’s arrest.
