Pennsylvania releases school-level vaccination data
Public access to data boosts transparency
Vaccination data for almost every public and private school in Pennsylvania has now been made available online.
The information can be accessed through a new interactive tool that’s been created by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Pennsylvania Department of Education. It uses data from the 2025-26 school year. Previously, the state health department only had vaccination data available on a state and county level.
Officials say that the public having access to the school-level data boosts transparency.
According to Secretary of Health Debra Bogen, “This new tool cuts through the noise, putting critical information directly into the hands of families and local leaders so they can work together to reduce the risk of vaccine-preventable diseases like measles and whooping cough.”
Overall, the data indicates that more than 200 schools in the state have achieved a 100% vaccination rate for kindergartners for measles, mumps and rubella (MMR), and more than half the reporting schools have an MMR vaccination rate for kindergarten students at or above the 95% threshold that is considered necessary for community immunity.
Also, at the seventh-grade level, more than 74% of reporting schools have an MMR rate at or above the 95% threshold, with 26% of schools reaching 100%, and at the 12th-grade level, more than 83% of schools have an MMR rate at or above the 95% threshold, with more than 22% of schools hitting the 100% mark.
Along with the MMR vaccine, the interactive tool also offers data on the percentage of students who have received vaccines for diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, hepatitis B, chicken pox and meningitis.
Looking at the data, many schools in Washington, Greene and Fayette counties meet or exceed the 95% threshold for vaccination rates. Washington Junior High School, for example, has a 100% vaccination rate, while Peters Middle School in the Peters Township district falls just below the 95% threshold. In Fayette County, Friendship Hill Elementary School, in the Albert Gallatin School District, the kindergarten MMR vaccination rate is 84%, and in Greene County’s Carmichaels School District, middle school and high school students exceeded the 95% threshold, while students in the elementary school did not.
The interactive school vaccination tool is set to be updated and will include the ability to search by school district and vaccination exemption rates for individual schools.
