Three Rivers Arts Festival moves to the Strip District

The Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival will be in a new location this year and will be happening over fewer days than in the past.
A production of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, it starts today at the riverfront lots at the 15th Street Plaza along Waterfront Place in the Strip District. Brooke Horejsi, chief programming and engagement officer for the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, said in a news release, “Gathering together in the Strip District adds a new dimension to this year’s festival, but the artistry and community spirit that has defined this cherished event for decades will have us feeling right at home.”
The festival will have more than 200 regional and national artists, a juried visual art exhibit, dance performances, an area with family-friendly activities and more. It will wrap up on Sunday.
Concerts are scheduled each day on the Dollar Bank Main Stage. Las Cafeteras, a band from Los Angeles which mixes traditional Mexican music and hip-hop, will be playing today at 7:30 p.m. The rest of the lineup is:
-Tiera Kennedy, Friday, 6 p.m.
-Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Friday, 7:30 p.m.
-Souls of Mischief, Saturday, 6 p.m.
-Cautious Clay, Saturday, 7:30 p.m.
-Lisa Loeb, Sunday, 6 p.m.
-Suzanne Vega, Sunday, 7:30 p.m.
The festival being moved to the Strip District is temporary – next year, it is due to be at Arts Landing, a new four-acre civic space in the Cultural District.
