Charleroi Regional Police Department arrested a man over the weekend after he was accused of assaulting his girlfriend. Isaiah James Lee Banks, 29, of New Kensington, faces a felony charge of strangulation, and misdemeanors of simple assault and endangering the welfare of children. According to the criminal complaint, on Friday Banks' girlfriend reported to police that Banks had punched and choked her while she was holding their child. Charging documents state that police saw pictures of the injuries and that the alleged victim had redness around her neck and on her face. The Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission (PHRC) will host a virtual town hall today, with a focus on the large immigrant community in Charleroi. The program is free and open to the public. Called No Hate in Our State, the town hall will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. The town halls are being held across the state and focus on addressing the root causes of hate and the role laws play in finding justice.
