The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW) will conduct a solemn Memorial Day ceremony honoring John Ross Dunn, bugler of the 22nd Pennsylvania Cavalry, known as 鈥淭he Ringgolds,鈥� at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Ruff Creek, Greene County. The ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 23, and is open to the public. Dunn served as a bugler in the first of Pennsylvania鈥檚 distinguished Civil War cavalry units. Buglers played a vital role on the battlefield, transmitting orders and signals that guided troop movements during combat.
